Lormand Law is a New Orleans-based civil litigation firm licensed to practice in Louisiana, Florida, and Washington, D.C. Originally from Lafayette, Louisiana, Pamela attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. While at LSU, she was a proud member of The Golden Band From Tigerland for three years, and she wrote for The Reveille, LSU's campus newspaper, and Louisiana WOMAN, a monthly publication. After graduating in 1991, Pamela lived in San Diego, California before returning to Louisiana to obtain her law degree from Tulane Law School. At Tulane, Pamela was a member of the Tulane Law Review and received the Brofin, Heller, Steinberg & Berins Law Review Award.
Pamela actively engages in pro bono services. In addition to assisting individuals in this capacity, she served on the Board and as the President of her former homeowners' association for nearly ten years, as well on the Crescent City Task Force at the appointment of the then sitting Louisiana Governor.
Pamela admitted to the Louisiana State Bar in 1999, Florida State Bar in 2000 and Washington D.C. Bar in 2001. She is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit and Ninth Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Western, and Middle Districts of Louisiana.
We handle both routine and complex business transactions, including business and commercial litigation, mergers, acquisitions, formation, trademarks, employment issues, trade secrets, non-disclosure agreements, non-compete agreements, policies and procedures, employment contracts, and service contracts.
We counsel and train employers in human relations, personnel matters, and compliance issues. We also assist in the development of handbooks, procedures, and personnel policies, including reasonable accommodations, drug and alcohol testing, Family Medical Leave policies, and affirmative actions plans. Our firm is experienced in handling harassment and employment discrimination claims, wrongful termination, and breach of employment agreements.
We have experience as National Counsel in Mass Tort Litigation, including defending litigation, pre-certification discovery, defeating class certifications, and creative, case-specific defense strategies. As national counsel, we coordinate numerous law firms, local counsel, experts, and related proceedings in an effort to provide strong and consistent representation.
We have extensive experience handling healthcare and malpractice issues. Our broad range of legal services include Qui Tam and Whistleblower matters, State and Federal regulations, risk management, HIPAA compliance, licensing and professional liability issues, patient care issues and evacuation issues related to natural disaster or catastrophes. We have represented clients in cases involving Assisted Living Facilities, Hospitals, Long Term Acute Care Facilities and Nursing Homes.
We handle appellate matters in a broad range of areas, including licensing issues, personal injury, toxic tort, product liability, medical malpractice and maritime. We are experienced in handling all aspects of the appellate process, including oral argument, writ practice and briefing.
We handle claims for injury, wrongful death and property damage brought against owners and operators of commercial and industrial properties. Our experience representing clients in premises liability matters extends beyond litigation but also includes advice and guidance regarding appropriate procedures and precautions to prevent these incidents.
